Supporting Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit’s (SMART) enhancement of pedestrian path-of-travel safety at the at-grade crossings across its network, JMA led the design improvements of 3 at-grade crossings on Mission Avenue, Pacheco Street, and Paloma Avenue. JMA also led the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) and utility coordination and prepared numerous alternatives to evaluate appropriate safety measures for the crossings, which were constructed in 2023. Supporting other Prime teams, JMA prepared the plans, specifications and estimates for the track shift of approximately 1,300 ft of track at the Lakeville St., avoiding more costly improvements to the at-grade crossing and prepared the concept design of 11 public and private at-grade crossings throughout the Sonoma-Marin area. For the track shift project, JMA provided bid and construction phase services after final design was completed in 2022.
