Description:

JMA Civil is seeking an experienced rail engineer to perform track design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects.

This position is a full-time, Monday through Friday, remote work setting with some on-site project related visits. Standard work week is 40 hours per week with some overtime based on project deadlines. This position requires California residency. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Pay:

$120,000 – $160,000 per year based on your skill level and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-15 years of rail design experience
  • Professional engineering license preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of USA based project experience
  • Broad knowledge of standards, principles and practices of civil engineering
  • Proficient in Bentley OpenRail and/or Civil 3D

Job Duties Include:

  • Design transportation projects, including freight, passenger, and transit rail systems, and related facilities.
  • Perform track-related grading and drainage design.
  • Plan and design utility relocations, protections, and new utility installations, generally including storm drain, sanitary sewer, water systems, liquid and natural gas product lines, and communications.
  • Conduct advanced hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Design roadway crossings and grade crossing improvements and modifications.
  • Manage sub-scopes and coordinate with utility locators/investigators, surveyors, and geotechnical subconsultants.
  • Interface with railroads to navigate the project approval process and secure necessary approvals.
  • Interface with permit agencies to secure permit approvals.
  • Write technical reports, including design memoranda and special studies.
  • Lead, organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff.
