JMA Graduates from Caltrans Calmentor Program, Strengthening Industry Expertise

We are proud to announce that JMA has successfully graduated from the Caltrans Calmentor Program where we had the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and gain deeper insight into Caltrans’ procurement processes.

A special thank you to Caltrans, our mentor Darcy Taylor and Ghirardelli Associates, and all those who have supported our journey. We are excited for the road ahead as we continue our work on major transportation projects throughout California.

Building the Future: JMA Joins USHSR to Accelerate High-Speed Rail

JMA is thrilled to announce that we have officially joined the U.S. High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) and their coalition! This marks a significant step in our commitment to advancing sustainable, efficient, and modern transportation solutions across America.

As part of this initiative, our team will actively contribute to several USHSR committees, collaborating with industry leaders to promote and accelerate the development of high-speed rail nationwide.

We look forward to working alongside USHSR and fellow industry partners to build momentum, advocate for innovation, and shape the future of high-speed rail in the U.S.

JMA’s Annual Firm Training Day: Building Skills, Connections, and Momentum!

JMA’s annual Firm Training Day was a perfect mix of learning, collaboration, and lighthearted fun! The team came together to dive into JMA’s processes, share knowledge, and explore new tools and technology through engaging staff-led demos. The day included our very own JMA-style Family Feud show, with crowd-pleaser categories like ‘Top Phrases Used by Jon’ and ‘Rail Design.’

Firm Training Day is an important opportunity for JMA to connect as a team, recharge, and set the foundation for achieving our goals and initiatives in the year ahead. Thank you for all those in attendance and special thanks to the admin team for putting it all together.

JMA Attends SYSTRA-TYPSA Open House in Sacramento

Jon Marshall, P.E. and Ethan J. Hartsell had a great time at SYSTRATYPSA‘s Open House in Sacramento, building connections with the Track and Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) project team for the CA High-Speed Rail Program. JMA looks forward to working together in the new office space to drive impactful progress on this exciting project.

JMA Attends CA High-Speed Rail Fresno Construction Tour

JMA’s Marketing Manager, Katie Naster, had the privilege of participating in the Fresno Segment Construction Tour for the CA High-Speed Rail Program, showcasing key developments such as the Fresno station area, the Tulare Street grade separation and UPRR shoofly, and the impressive Cedar Viaduct. As a proud SBE partner in the program who led the design of the UPRR shoofly to support the Tulare Street grade separation and is currently completing the schematic design for the Fresno High-Speed Rail Station, JMA was thrilled to receive an invitation.

After the tour, Katie attended the WTS-CenCal’s New Frontier Event: High-Speed Rail Women Leading the Way event, where distinguished panelists, including one of our tour guides, Margaret Cederoth, shared insights into the latest progress, upcoming opportunities, and community growth around CA High-Speed Rail and other upcoming rail connections.

JMA’S Arka Ghosh, PE Promoted to Sr. Civil/Rail Engineer

JMA is thrilled to announce the well-deserved promotion of Arka Ghosh, PE, to the role of Sr. Civil/Rail Engineer! Arka has been an integral part of our team at JMA for the past 6 years, demonstrating exceptional dedication and expertise as a Design Lead. His commitment and proficiency have consistently contributed to the successful outcomes of many rail projects.

Currently, Arka spearheads the Rail Master Planning projects at the Port of Stockton, along with other significant rail projects across the region. In his new role, Arka will continue to lead the design efforts for rail infrastructure projects at JMA. Additionally, he will play a pivotal role in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to our junior staff members.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Arka on this significant achievement and look forward to his continued contributions and leadership within our team.

What a fun day at Topgolf for JMA’s 2023 holiday PAR-tee. Our team is truly the driving force behind every success at JMA and it was great to have them, friends, and their families together to celebrate the holidays and accomplishments from the past year. Happy Holidays and New Year from JMA!

JMA Civil Attend’s Port of Stockton’s 90th Anniversary Celebration

JMA’s Managing Principal, Jon Marshall, PE and President, Ethan Hartsell, attended the Port of Stockton’s 90th Anniversary Celebration this past Saturday. Having worked with the Port since 2014 providing Track Design and Master Planning services, JMA was honored to celebrate this momentous occasion with the Port.

JMA Announces Newly Principled Engineer Mohammed Abushaban

JMA is thrilled to announce a momentous milestone within our firm! It is with immense pride and excitement that we reveal the promotion of one of our most dedicated and talented staff members, Mohammed Abushaban, PE, to the position of Principal Engineer and JMA’s newest shareholder. This promotion is a testament to Mohammed’s unwavering commitment, exceptional skills, and invaluable contributions to our Clients success.

Mohammed joined JMA in 2016 and has led some of JMA’s most significant projects, including the California High-Speed Rail CP4 project where he successfully obtained approval for two (2) BNSF shoofly designs to facilitate the construction of the new grade separations and has successfully led over 30 at-grade crossing improvement projects. Not only is he one of JMA’s leading rail experts but he is also an amazing father to his 2 children, a BBQ pit master, and a dear friend.

We wholeheartedly congratulate Mohammed on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to the countless successes that await us as we embark on this journey together.
