Supporting Sierra Nevada Brewing Company’s site selection process for their new East Coast Brewery Facility, JMA designed a new rail transload facility, including at-grade crossings, for the Norfolk Southern Railroad served property. JMA secured a Memorandum of Understanding with the Railroad stating their ability to service Sierra Nevada at the proposed site in advance of final Railroad approval, which was important to the Client’s expansion and production goals. JMA provided final design of the transload track and at-grade crossings which included associated grading and drainage design, track details, and construction cost estimates. Additionally, JMA prepared an operations plan based on feedback received from Norfolk Southern and provided Railroad, NCDOT and County permit coordination required for the new rail crossing. Design was completed in 2012 and constructed in 2013.
