LBNL Building 48 Walkway Improvements

JMA has provided on-call civil design and project management services for various project types at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) since our inception in 2011. In 2013, JMA evaluated the feasibility of a continuous walkway along Building 48 at the LBNL facility to connect existing walkways at both ends of Lawrence Road with the aim of avoiding the current pedestrian path of travel in low visibility, vehicle travel lanes.  JMA led the transportation data collection provided by others and prepared several conceptual alternatives.

Based on the feasibility study completed by JMA, LBNL moved forward with the required updates which included a roadway realignment and design of new walkway for pedestrian safety, including median modifications and retaining wall design. Design was completed in 2013 and JMA provided bid and construction support services for a successful project completion in 2014.
