JMA led a Rail Improvements project at the Port of Redwood City, which is served by Union Pacific Railroad. This included oversight of the multidisciplinary design team and preparation of the track and civil design. In planning the design, JMA completed a comprehensive site evaluation by reviewing the Port’s inspection reports, identified key areas of concern for Port staff, and conducted a thorough on the ground evaluation of the existing track and associated drainage. JMA prepared the track layout, grading and drainage design, details and specifications, and construction cost estimates for the project. Design was completed in 2013 and JMA provided bid and construction support services for successful project completion in 2014. In 2021, JMA led the final design for improvements at an at-grade crossing at the Port, which was completed in 2021. JMA also prepared the cost estimates and provided bid and construction support for project completion in 2022. JMA is currently leading other track projects at the Port.
