Jon Marshall, PE

Managing Principal/CEO

Jon Marshall is the Founder and Principal Engineer at JMA Civil and has more than 25 years of experience in railroad facility design, consulting, and general civil engineering.  Jon has completed over 200 railroad projects in his career, most with UPRR and BNSF Railway.  Additionally, he has led the CPUC coordination role for over 50 rail grade separation and at-grade crossing improvement projects.

His extensive experience includes designing projects and consulting for transit agencies including CA High-Speed Rail Authority, BART, VTA, Caltrain, and Amtrak, and leading projects involving or affecting UPRR and BNSF Railway, especially in the Central Valley, Bay Area and Northern Nevada.

Jon has managed projects through all stages of design, from analysis and planning to early concept and final design, through to construction support, with considerable cost estimating experience at each of these phases.  Jon is also a polished public speaker, with extensive experience making presentations to project stakeholders and public panels.
